Ducks

Lake Meadows not only produces chicken eggs but rather a whole assortment of eggs from many different birds including ducks. Over the years Lake Meadows has found that the Khaki Campell and the Pekin Duck work best.

Originating in England the Khaki Campell ducks are excellent egg layers and get their name from their tan color. Pekin Ducks on the other hand are all white and are prized for their eggs as well as their meat. The Pekin breed was originated in China before it was introduced to the United States in the late 1800’s and is now the most popular breed of domesticated duck in the country. Both breeds will lay white eggs, and under optimum conditions are able to lay nearly as well as our chickens.  Our duck eggs are all washed by hand to provide our customer with the cleanest duck eggs on the market.  These eggs are great for cooking due to their high protein and nutrient content making them favorites among local chefs. Lake Meadows is proud to provide customers with duck eggs that raise the bar and set themselves apart from the rest.
